Being Trustworthy is another theme in Climbing activities. Trust is given and earned it does not just happen.
The belayer especially needs to show that they are doing a good job, focusing on the climber and the task at hand to earn the trust of the climber.

THE BIG DIPPER (INDOOR SWING)
Our 6m swing is an activity that pushes riders outside their comfort zone. The other participants are responsible for manning the haul line to pull the rider up to the heights. They have to work together and be careful to listen to the rider and stop at the height the rider chooses. The rider then has to have the courage to pull the release and allow the swing to break free. This activity has a high factor of perceived risk and it can be incredibly empowering for the participants to break through the fear barrier and realise that they are safe and even have fun!! Skills taught personal challenge, teamwork, peer support |
ABSEILING TOWER
The newest addition to our adventure at heights program is our Abseiling tower, It has two levels six meters tall and nine meters tall. Abseiling really tests a participant’s comfort levels as it incorporates height and perceived risk with control and coordination. Peer support and encouragement as well as trust in the instructor and infrastructure are big factors in success. Skills taught are self-belay, peer support, personal challenge. |
